Mahlaing, 3 January
In order to mark the 72nd Independence Day, sports events are being held on a grand scale in the town of Mahlaing, Meikhtila district, Mandalay region.
According to the directives of the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, a union budget of K 2 million was allocated for Mahlaing township to organize sports events, said U Hla Tun Aung, Pyithu Hluttaw representative of Mahlaing township constituency.
A total of 18 categories of sports were included in the sports events being held in commemoration of the 72nd Independence Day. Of them, badminton and volley ball games were played on January 1.
On January 3, track events such as 100-m, 200-m, 400-m races, long jump, high jump and other traditional sports events were staged in the football ground, Myoma cinema and the park in the town.
on January 4, prizes will be given to those who came first, second and third in each sports events, according to Mahlaing township Sports and Physical Education Department.—Bo Bo (Mahlaing)
