No passengers were injured after a Myitkyina bound cargo train was derailed in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region on 6 January.

The accident occurred when a cargo train operated by locomotive driver identified as U Khin Maung Soe derailed at milepost No. 574/17 and milepost No. 574/19 near Meza Bridge yesterday morning. The cause of the derailment is still unknown. The railroad section where the accident occurred is temporarily closed, said an official from the Myanma Railways.

Officials from the Myanma Railways rushed to the scene to evaluate the situation and investigate the accident.—Ni Toe
