A total of 80 Myanmar migrant workers including four children, 71 men and five women were sent back from Thailand through the Kawthoung border gate yesterday evening for not holding proper documentation.

Thai authorities brought the Myanmar migrant workers to Kawthoung via sea route and handed them over to their Myanmar counterpart in Kawthoung.

Also present on the occasion were personnel from the township General Administration Department, the Labor Department, the Anti-human Trafficking Police Force and the Disaster Management Department and others.

Medical staff from Kawthoung Department of Health provided medical check-ups and mask to the returnees. All the returnees have tested negative for coronavirus, it is learnt.

The returnee workers are sent to their places of origin after being provided with health care.—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
