Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Ohn Maung received 80 first-year students and 5 teachers from Mandalar Degree College yesterday.

The students are studying Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management (BTHM) at the college, which is under the administration of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.

During the meeting, the Union Minister said it has been 8 years since the Ministry of Education opened B.A. Tourism courses at National Management Degree College in Yangon and Mandalar Degree College in Mandalay beginning from the 2012-2013 academic year.

He urged the students to take the experience and practical training they will receive over the entire four-year course to become successful in every sector and duty entrusted to them in developing the nation’s travel industry.

Next, Mandalar Degree College Rector Dr Sein Sein Aung explained the BTHM course processes and observational field trips, and Digital Marketing Deputy Director U Kyaw Kyaw Lwin explained the ministry’s use of digital technology to promote tourism.

U Khin Maung Win, Managing Director of Nepal-based The Last Resort, then explained how bungee jumping is used to attract more travelers.
