Kawthoung, 26 February
A total of 63 Myanmar migrant workers were repatriated by Thai authorities to their counterparts at Kawthoung Border Gate yesterday evening.
With the help of medical staff in Department of Public Health, officials from District and Township General Administration Department, Department of Immigration and Population, Anti-Trafficking Police Force, Department of Labor and Department of Disaster Management conducted a thermal screening on those who returned from Thailand whether they were infected with coronavirus. According to the test, it was found that no one was infected with the virus.
Next, the officials distributed masks to returnees to prevent and control the spread of the virus and provided needy health care services. Then, the officials also helped to them to return their home safely.
The migrant workers were sent back due to the expiry of their cross border pass and illegal stay in Thailand without proper documents.
