Local people in 17 villages in southern part of Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region would be able to use the new rural bridge as construction of the facility was completed.

           

A wooden bridge connecting Montai Dam and Meiktila on an inter-village road was replaced a concrete structure measuring 60 ft. in length, 12 ft. in width. Construction work began on 25 January and the facility has been cent percent finished, said a retired engineer U Tin Than. The bridge is used by residents from around 17 villages to transport their products as well students to go school.

It was rebuilt at a cost of more than Ks. 17 million contributed by local people under the aegis of a prominent Buddhist monk, said a village official. Now residents nearby the bridge would be able to use the facility in all seasons with greater ease.—Thein Myint Kyaw (Meiktila)
