Loikaw, 11 May
Strong wind with heavy rains caused damage to houses and buildings in wards and some villages in Loikaw Township, Kayah state yesterday afternoon, forcing trees, lamp posts and phone posts to fall down.
The roofs of 16 houses, one school and one granary were blown away by the wind. Due to the collapse of posts of electric cables, electricity was cut out.
Departmental staff and members of the Army were involved in the repair work.—Tun Lay (IPRD)
