A total of 391 Myanmar detainees who have served their punishments in Malaysia arrived back home yesterday.

They landed at the Yangon International Airport at 10:25 am and 3:03 pm by two planes of Malaysia Airlines arranged by its government.

The Myanmar embassy in Kuala Lumpur issued certificates of identify (CoI) after scrutinizing their citizenship before sending them back to the home land.

In coordination with relevant ministries in Malaysia, the Myanmar embassy in Kuala Lumpur, ministries of Myanmar and Region/State governments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged the return of Myanmar citizens under the directive of National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

When they arrived at the Yangon International Airport, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and the Ministry of Health and Sports worked for immigration processes and medical checks.

The respective Region/State governments are facilitating transportations from the airport to their homes and the 21 days community based facility quarantine in line with the guidelines of MoHS in respective areas.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
