Some residents in Kyunsu Township, Taninthayi Region were reportedly fined for not wearing facemasks during joint surprise checks.
The surprise checks were conducted by members of the township-level COVID-19 control and emergency response committee, departmental staff, volunteers from local philanthropic organizations in an attempt to curb the spread of coronavirus in the township. The local officials led by Township Deputy Administrator U Kyaw Thiha performed surprise checks at separate locations.
26 residents were fined for buying facemasks worth Ks. 5,000 for not wearing facemasks.—Sithu Aung (Kyunsu)
