The Sagaing Region government handed over a report on government officials receiving bribes from illegal gold miners in the peatlands near Thapanseik Dam in Kyunhla Township, Sagaing Region, to the Anti-Corruption Commission. After thorough investigation, the ACC found that Deputy Township Administrator U Soe Ko Ko of Kyunhla Township solicited K300,000 from illegal gold miners, Police Major Aung Myo Oo of Kyunhla Township police station solicited K550,000 from illegal gold miners, Police Captain Than Htike of Kyunhla police station solicited K1,040,000 from illegal gold miners, Police Sub-Lieutenant Myo Lwin of the border guard forces solicited K250,000, and Police Lieutenant Ye Lin of Kanbalu District solicited K200,000 from illegal gold miners.
