Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Soe Aung and Mr Tan Shufu, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese embassy, held a meeting to discuss resettlement programmes for the internally displaced persons in Kachin State yesterday. 


In his capacity as leader of the working committee for implementing IDP resettlement in Kachin State, U Soe Aung first thanked the support from China in resettling IDPs in Kachin State. He said they will cooperate in that support and the professional team from Myanmar will work together with the feasibility study group from China.


Mr Tan Shufu said that it was the first visit of economic mission of their embassy during the COVID-19 period; the Chinese government takes serious consideration in resettlement programme in this area; Myanmar and China signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation; they will hand over 200 million yuan for the resettlement of IDPs in Kachin State, and 4 million yuan from this financial assistance will be handed over soon for resettling villages. 


He also called for cooperation of Myanmar in the trips of survey team and in their works.


 Director-General U Win Naing Tun, the Secretary of working committee, from the Rehabilitation Department explained the future project and related processes.
