The Union Minister for Office of Union Government U Min Thu yesterday held a meeting with chairpersons of leading body of the Self-Administered Division and Zones.
In the meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw, the Union Minister said that the meeting was aimed to help facilitate the administration process of the Self-Administered Division/Zones: Wa, Naga, Danu, Pa-O, Pa Laung and Kokang.
The meeting focused on giving rights and power of Collectors to the General Administrators of the Self-Administered Division/Zones, matters related to the development of the areas, the promotion of ethnic rights, peace process, and national reconciliation.
The Union Minister pointed out that those tasks and processes are fundamental to building a future democratic federal Union.
After the speech of the Union Minister, the Director-General U Myint Than of the General Administration Department explained the roles and duties of his department, and the roles and duties of Collectors. Next, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Office of the Union Government U Htet Aung explained the reform processes of the General Administration Department. He also discussed the department’s collaborative efforts in prevention, control and treatment of the COVID-19.
Afterwards, the chairpersons of the leading body of the Self-Administered Division/Zones discussed matters related to the development of their areas.
Then, Deputy Minister U Tin Myint and U Hla Maw Oo made additional discussions.
In the afternoon, the Director-General U Zaw Htay of the Department of Union Peace Formation of the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor discussed matters related to the development of the Self-Administered Division/Zones, the promotion of ethnic rights, peace process and reconciliation. —MNA (Translated by Maung Maung Swe)
