2 killed in train-motorcycle accident in Yamethin

Two men died when a train struck the motorcycle they were on, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The accident between the train and motorcycle occurred at about 10:05 p.m. on 15 January near a level junction between Ingyinkan and Yamethin railway stations near mileposts 276/20 and 276/21 on the Mandalay-Mandalay railroad. The two motorcyclists identified as Naing Win, 45, and Ye Swe, 24 hit the train and died on the pot while they were crossing the level junction.

Their bodies were transferred to a public hospital in Yamethin. An investigation into the case is ongoing by the local police.—MOHA
