THE Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Yangon) under the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs held the opening ceremony for the 2025–2026 academic year’s integrated sports and academic training programme at 8 am yesterday at the Union Hall of the Kyaikkasan sports compound in Tamway Township, Yangon Region.
At the event, Chief Minister U Soe Thein of the Yangon Region government, who also serves as the patron of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Yangon), and Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Thein Lin delivered opening speeches.
During the ceremony, various donors contributed a total of K93 million in cash, 200 dozen propelling pencils worth K1 million, and 11 Bovinam martial arts uniforms. The donations were formally received by the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, the Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, and other Yangon Region government ministers, who in turn presented certificates of appreciation to the donors.
Following the ceremony, officials inspected the sports equipment and facilities arranged by category for demonstration and use in the programme. — Arkar Lin/MKKS
