The 49th Pagoda Festival and Adorned Bullock Cart Competition of Kamamo Village in Chaungzon Township, Mon State, took place on a grand scale on the evening of 22 April.

U Min Myint Myaung Lay, a member of the organizing committee for the Mon traditional adorned bullock cart competition, stated that the Kamamo decorated bullock cart competition was established in 1975. This year marks its 49th edition, aimed at preserving cultural tradition among the youth. In the past, almost all villages in Chaungzon Township held this cart competition, but nowadays, only Kamamo Village continues the tradition.

Four adorned bullock carts competed in the event, with scores assigned by five scoring teams based on the condition of bullocks, carts, elegance, costumes, and physical positions. The winner received a worthy award, and the festival attracted visitors from far and wide. — U Kyaw Kyaw Aung (IPRD)/TRKM
