A ceremony to celebrate the 70th Republic Day of India was held at the residence of the Indian ambassador in Yangon yesterday evening and was attended by Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe and wife Daw May Yin Tun.
The event started with the playing of the national anthems of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of India.
Next, Ambassador-Designate of India to Myanmar Mr. Saurabh Kumar and Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe delivered speeches and took a commemorative group photo with the invited guests. Afterwards the Indian ambassador hosted a dinner for Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe and wife Daw May Yin Tun and invited guests while Myanmar-India traditional dances were performed. Also present at the ceremony were Union Election Commission Chairman U Hla Thein, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air force) General Mya Tun Oo, high ranking Tatmadaw officers, ambassadors and charge d’affaires from embassies in Yangon, the UN resident representative and invited guests. — MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
