An opening ceremony of the 72nd anniversary of the Tai National Day was held at the township sport grounds in Mohnyin, Kachin State this morning.
Commenting about organizing the event, U Sai Maung Htwe, member of the committee for holding the 72nd anniversary of the Tai National Day said, “Shan State Day or Shan National Day has been annually celebrated in Shan State. But the event is held as Tai National Day in other regions and states. The ceremony is commemorated in Mohnyin as well as Namti.”
Sai Thein Win, member of the committee for holding the 72nd anniversary of the Tai National Day also said that the ceremony is being celebrated by different tribes of Shan ethnic, adding local cabinet members and the commander of the Northern Command were invited through the Kachin State Minister for Shan Ethnic Affairs to attend the event.
Former Lower House MP representing Kunhing Constituency Daw Nang Wah Nu and other Shan writers will give talks during the three-day occasion.—Kyaw Kyaw Htwe
