THE eighth batch of human­itarian aid from the People’s Republic of China for areas affected by the recent Man­dalay earthquake arrived in Yangon yesterday afternoon via an Air China Cargo flight.

 

The shipment included 37,903 kilogrammes of medi­cines. Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, officials from the re­gional government, the Min­istry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Min­istry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and Mr Ouyang Daobing, Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, welcomed the aid.

 

Mr Ouyang Daobing of­ficially handed over the aid supplies, which were accepted by Chief Minister U Soe Thein. The materials are now loaded onto designated vehicles for delivery to quake-affected ar­eas. — MNA/KZL
