Local residents accorded a rousing welcome to Bogyoke Aung San bronze statue when it arrived in the town of Mogaung, Kachin state at 1:00 pm on February 2. The statue was transported from Mandalay.

A ceremony to open the statue of Bogyoke Aung San, the architect of Myanmar Independence, will be held in Mogaung, Kachin State on February 13, on which the birthday of Bogyoke Aung San falls.

Departmental personnel, students, teachers and local people gave a salute to the statue which is temporarily kept in the town hall.—Win Naing ( Kachin Myay)
