Buddha Pujaniya festival of Alaungtaw Pathapa pagoda begins

The 51st anniversary Buddha Pujaniya festival of the Alaungtaw Pathapa pagoda was held in Kapaing Village, Yinmarbin Township in Sagaing Region this morning in conjunction with an inauguration ceremony of a rural road.

 

First, Sagaing Regional Minister for Security and Border Affairs Lt-Col Than Tun Aung, Regional Minister for Municipality U Myint Kyi, Regional Minister for Social Affairs Dr. Zaw Win, Regional Advocate-General U Khin Maung Hla, Secretary of the regional cabinet U Tin Maung Swe, Lower House MP for Yinmarbin Constituency U Aung Soe and regional legislator Daw Khin Hnin Yi formally opened the Buddha Pujaniya festival and the archway of the rural road by cutting a ceremonial ribbon. 

 

 

Afterwards, Chief Minister of Sagaing Region Dr. Myint Naing and abbot of Maha Vithuddar Yarma Monastery U Viseikta unveiled the signboard of the archway. The chief minister then posed for a documentary photo with those present, presented cash to traditional cultural troupes and inspected the rural road. The Buddhist pilgrims across the country will be able to use the new roadall year round.

 

At the same time, the newly built road will help improve the quality of life for local people by making transportation easier and more accessible.—Than Htay Aung
