Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee Vice-Chair­man of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, accompanied Vice-Chairs of the NDMC Union ministers, inspected loss and damage to Naypyitaw State Academy yes­terday afternoon.

 

He viewed round damage to the post-graduate and manage­ment main building, the medical lecture hall, the economics lec­ture hall, two arts and science lecture halls and the economic and social lecture hall. Accord­ing to the inspection, the main columns and beams are com­pletely undamaged, with only some cracks and separations in the plaster of certain partition brick walls.

 

He coordinated with offi­cials to completely repair these buildings before opening of the university. He also inspected the convocation hall and a six-sto­rey building which are under construction.

 

According to the inspection of experts from the Federation of Myanmar Engineering Socie­ties, and Myanmar Engineering Council as well as earthquake experts, there is no damage at the buildings.

 

The Ministry of Construc­tion built the completed build­ings and other buildings under­way on the campus of Naypyitaw State Academy in accordance with international standard SOPs 2020, following a design capable of withstanding a mag­nitude 7 on the Richter scale.

 

The Vice-Senior Gener­al gave instructions that the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Construction have to coordinate for construction of buildings in accordance with the newly revised design by the Ministry of Construction, which can withstand up to magnitude 8 on the Richter scale.—MNA/ TTA
