Nay Pyi Taw 30 January

The 28 tentative Myanmar players who will travel to Cambodia for the AFF U22 Championship were released yesterday by the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF).

The White Angels squad was nominated by Bulgarian Head Coach Velizar Emilov Popov for the AFF U22 Championship, the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship qualification, and the 30th SEA Games, the MFF said. U Chit Naing and U Soe Myat Min take charge of the Myanmar U-22 men’s squad as assistant coaches.

“We made preparations to start training session on 4 February and will go to Cambodia on 15 February,” said Myanmar U-22 men’s Head Coach Popov. Myanmar will take part in the AFF U22 Championship to be held in Cambodia from 17 to 27 February for the first time where the team is pooled in the Group-B together with host Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia.

After the event, the squad will play the qualification for the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship on home soil. Myanmar will compete with Japan, Timor-Leste and Macau in a round robin format in the Group-I. The group winner will qualify directly for the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship to be held in Thailand.—By Kyaw Htike Soe
