Disaster preparedness drill observed in Myeik

A natural disaster preparedness drill was held in Kyweku Village, Myeik Township in Taninthayi Region on 25 August.
    

The departmental staff led by U Zaw Win, commander of the district fire brigade was involved in the drill which was conducted with the intention of teaching local people the proper procedures for safety measures in order to avert   the potential dangers of natural disasters. 55 firefighters, 35 rescuers, 15 policemen, 10 members of the MRCS, 20 volunteers from social organizations and 30 residents totaling 165 people took part in the simulation which was held by using 12 vehicles including fire engines and ambulances.  
    

The firefighters and the Red Cross members demonstrated how to carry out relief and rescue operations in a creek using three speedboats if natural disasters suddenly occur in the region. The members of the Red Cross also showed how to send patients to the hospitals during the drill.
