DEPUTY Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein met sports teams representing the ministry for the Fifth National Sports Festival yesterday af­ternoon at Office 34 in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

The Deputy Prime Min­ister encouraged participants to embrace the sportsmanship spirit of “winning or losing is secondary; participation mat­ters most.” He highlighted the ministry’s history of remark­able achievements in nation­al-level sports competitions and urged athletes to strive for excellence, uphold the minis­try’s reputation, and contribute outstanding athletes to the na­tion. He also expressed hopes for their success in winning medals.

 

Following his address, team leaders briefed their training progress and readi­ness for the competition.

 

The Ministry of Planning and Finance will compete in six sports categories: football, futsal, golf, volleyball, Sepak Takraw, and athletics, with 115 athletes representing the min­istry in the 2024 Fifth National Sports Festival. — MNA/KZL
