THE Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) has opened a children’s entertainment centre at Shwehintha Monastery in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, to support children emotionally affected by the Mandalay earthquake, according to MRCS headquarters.

Opened on 16 April in Sagaing, the centre was established to help children affected by the earthquake feel happier and less fear, and on its first day, it welcomed 18 children who found mental relaxation through play.

Children’s entertainment centres were established as part of a humanitarian project to support children in Myanmar affected by various challenges, aiming to provide psychological support, promote good health, encourage water and environmental hygiene practices, and offer opportunities for free and joyful play. Similar centres have also been opened in Shan State (South), Rakhine State, and Magway Region. — ASH/TH
