RESCUE and re­lief operations are actively car­ried out in affected areas where roads, bridges and buildings were damaged following the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March.

 

Tatmadaw members, Myanmar Police Force members, firefighters, in­ternational rescue teams, departmental staff, social welfare groups and locals are cooperating in these ongoing efforts.

 

Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw, Lt-Gen Thet Pon of the Office of the Command­er-in-Chief (Army) and officials visited several damaged sites in Sagaing, including religious build­ings, schools and residen­tial areas. They inspected ongoing rescue and coor­dinated support.

 

They also visited a temporary hospital built in Parami Ward by a Ma­laysian medical team, as well as several earth­quake-damaged pagodas and shelters in NanOo Myothit. They observed Tatmadaw mobile medical units providing healthcare and coordinated necessary arrangements.

 

Meanwhile, Lt-Gen Myo Moe Aung of the Office of the Command­er-in-Chief (Army) and officials visited earth­quake-damaged sites in Mandalay Region, includ­ing the Ingyin Condomin­ium, Ayeyawady River View Hotel, and several pagodas. They reviewed rescue operations with international groups and distributed food and co­ordinated support. They also visited monasteries to offer donations and in­spected the damage.

 

Similarly, Lt-Gen Soe Tint Naing of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and officials vis­ited Candamuni Pagoda and other religious sites in Mandalay to inspect dam­age and give instructions for reconstruction.

 

Also, Lt-Gen Myo Thant Naing of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and officials visited hospitals in Kyaukse and Singaing townships. They met patients and observed cleanup efforts carried out by Tatmadaw members, police, firefighters and civil staff.

 

Commander of East­ern Command Maj-Gen Zaw Min Latt and officials viewed round operation of sheet piles and cement grouting at reconstruction of the Inlay PhaungdawOo Pagoda in Nyaungshwe Township and provided family kits and foodstuffs to earthquake victims at the relief camp of Thalay Village Basic Education High School. — MNA/KZL
