Four more confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, total cases reach 14

1. Laboratory results of the National Health Laboratory (Yangon) on the specimens from a total of 55 persons under investigation and quarantined persons at 5:15 pm 30 March 2020 have shown two positive cases of Covid-19 (Table 1), and the remaining 51 persons were tested negative.

2. Based on the disease history of the positive patient (Case-08) (Tour Guide), the patient’s clients four French visitors were quarantined at a hotel in Yangon beginning 28 March, and their specimens were taken for laboratory tests on 29 March. Three of them (Case 11) (Case 12) and (Case 13) were tested positive and will be admitted to the Waibargi Specialist Hospital despite no symptoms.

3. The confirmed patient (Case 14) is the 24-year-old man living in Kyaukme Township, northern Shan State. He arrived back to Tachileik Township from Bangkok, Thailand, on 25 March. He stayed in Tachileik for two nights. He left for Mandalay by flight on 27 March afternoon. He took a private car from Mandalay to Kyaukme on that evening. On 28 March afternoon, as he began to suffer serious vomiting and cough, he was admitted to the People’s Hospital in Kyaukme Township in that evening. He received medical treatments as a person under investigation, and his specimens were taken for laboratory tests. He is in good health conditions.

4. As Myanmar has found more Covid-19 positive cases, persons in close contacts with these patients are identified and restricted on their travels. People are advised to strictly follow the awareness of the Ministry of Health and Sports. (Translated by Aung Khin)
