NEW garment orders have been on a constant rise, and the labour demand has increased too, according to factory owners.
The earthquake that hit in March affected the garment industry to some extent; however, they have received new orders continuously in April, said a factory owner.
“New orders have arrived now, even though the earthquake made the business stop just for a while. The majority of orders come from China and Japan, while Korean orders have been few. Not a garment alone, the receipt of an order is also fine for shoe and bag factories,” he said. However, factories have also faced a labour shortage at the same time, and factory owners said there are many job opportunities.
Depending on performance, workers have the chance to enjoy a high income.
“The receipt of orders is pretty good, so we need more labour. Now, it is not a wage system but workers’ income has improved depending on their ability, and the job opportunity is also potential,” he added. — MT/ZS
