Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win received a delegation led by Ms Yasmine Praz Dessi­moz, Director of Operations and Mr Regis Savioz, Regional Di­rector for Asia and the Pacific at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at the SAC Chairman Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

 

They discussed the distri­bution of relief supplies and aid provided by the international community to earthquake-affect­ed people as quickly as possible.

 

Their discussions focused on the loss and damage to My­anmar in the earthquake, the sending of rescue teams by 32 countries to Myanmar and the contribution of relief sup­plies, and the tireless efforts of Myanmar’s rescue teams and volunteers in cooperation with emergency rescue teams of the international community in conducting search and rescue operations.

 

They exchanged views on further rescue and relief meas­ures as well as the supply of aid by 32 countries including the AHA Centre in quake-affected areas, healthcare services pro­vided by Myanmar’s Ministry of Health, Myanmar Red Cross Society and ICRC in affected ar­eas, and ongoing work process of ICRC in the earthquake-ravaged areas in Myanmar, and poten­tials for cooperation in rehabili­tation measures.

 

Also, present at the meeting were Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, deputy min­isters and officials. The ICRC delegation was accompanied by the Resident Representative of ICRC and officials. — MNA/TTA
