Hit-and-run driver arrested together with illegal drugs

 A hit-and-run driver was arrested together with stimulant tablets on Loilinlay-Aiksant road near Paint Chit village in the town of Loilinlay, Loikaw township, Kayah state yesterday evening.

Acting on information, a contingent of policemen, village authorities and members of anti-drug association intercepted an unlicensed vehicle driven by a man identified as Antonio (a) Moedi on suspicion of carrying drugs. But, the driver drove away after hitting the authorities, forcing them to chase after him. The authorities managed to seize the man after his car halted on a roadside. The man was arrested together with a total of 2280 stimulant tablets weighing 205.2 grams. A policeman and two people who got slight injuries in the incident were admitted to Loikaw People’s Hospital. 

Authorities brought charges against the man of trafficking drugs and disrupting the authorities on duty.—Ko Sai ( Loikaw)
