The 70-year-old cleaner was hit in the head by a brick while filming a clash between protesters and residents in the New Territories.

He later died in hospital.

Police offered a reward of about 100,000 US dollars for information. The five suspects aged between 15 and 18 were arrested on Friday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping told Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam last month that ending violence and chaos and restoring order remain the top priority for Hong Kong.

He urged Lam to stop violent acts and punish the perpetrators in accordance with the law to safeguard the well-being of the public.

Lam is scheduled to meet Xi again in Beijing on Monday to give her annual report on the situation in the territory.
