Illegal timbers, wild animals, foodstuff, battery, vehicle confiscated

The on-duty teams under the supervision of the Customs Department conducted inspec­tions on 6 January.

 

Officials seized five kinds of goods including 600 12V 12Ah batteries worth K19.6 million which did not declare in the Import Declaration from a container at Asia World con­tainer checkpoint. The action was taken under the customs procedures.

 

Similarly, an on-duty teams under the supervision of the Customs Department in Bago Region conducted inspections near Shwe Thanlwin toll gate in Bago Township. Officials seized 1,080 litres of RBD Palm Olein labelling Prawn Hornet estimated worth K2.88 million which did not declare in the Import Declaration and a lor­ry worth K50 million carrying that RBD Palm Olein heading from Myawady to Yangon and the action was taken under the customs procedures. A com­bined inspection team under the management of the Bago Region Forest Department seized 5.3008 tonnes of illegal teak, Kanyin and ironwood timbers estimated worth K1,792,040 in Thayawady and Toungoo districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law.

 

In addition, a combined inspection team under the management of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradica­tion Task Force seized 0.355 tonne of illegal teak estimat­ed worth K390,500 and 120 heads of nine species of wild animals and birds estimat­ed worth K1.18 million and a vehicle worth K12 million at 16th-mile Kyaukchaw check­point and the action was taken under the customs procedure

 

Hence, eight cases at an estimated value of K87,842,540 were made on 6 January 2023, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Commit­tee.—MNA/KZL
