Insein fire victims get relief items

No casualties were reported after a fire broke out at a house in Sintngu Ward, Insein Township in Yangon Region on Tuesday. The fire torched 17 nearby houses and left 84 people from 18 households homeless. 

 

The fire victims are currently taking shelter at a temporary relief camp which was opened at a religious building in the ward. The director from the Department of Disaster Management U Win Shwe together with Lower House MP U Maung Maung Oo, regional lawmakers, and local authorities visited the rescue camp and donated relief supplies such as drinking water, cooking oil, clothing, blankets, school uniforms, construction materials and rice worth more than Ks. 3.5 million to the fire victims.

 

The fire is believed to have started from a candle light at the Buddha shrine in a house belonging to a woman identified as Daw San Myint.—Myo Min Thein (Mayangon)
