Israel's military warned on Tuesday night that it prepares to escalate its attacks if unrest in the Gaza Strip continues.
On Tuesday evening, Israeli military jets carried out several air strikes in the northern Gaza Strip, killing a 24-year-old Hamas militant and injuring four others.
A military spokesperson said in a statement that the attacks were retaliation to several "shooting incidents" along the fence between the besieged Palestinian enclave and Israel.
In one of the incidents, a bullet hit a helmet of an officer "during a riot in the southern Gaza Strip," lightly wounding the officer, according to the army.
"In response, IDF (Israel Defense Forces) troops conducted strikes throughout the day," the spokesperson said.
Late on Tuesday, fighter jets targeted a number of "terror sites" within a Hamas military camp in the northern Gaza Strip, the spokesperson added.
