Jade lake, huge stone slab crowded with visitors

Mandalay 2 January

A number of people have flocked to Jade Lake and stone slab for grinding Thanakha (Myanmar traditional make-up) in the precinct of the Jade Pagoda in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region.

“We pay homage to the Jade Pagoda before touring Jade Lake and stone slab which is used for grinding thanakha. Here, we can grind thanakha on the large stone slab and wear thanakha. We have never witnessed such a huge stone slab and it was a memorable one for me” said one of the visitors from Wetlat.

The world’s first Jade Pagoda was built in 2012 and a ceremony to hoist pagoda’s umbrella was held in 2015. Early this year saw many visitors in the Jade Pagoda in Mandalay.
