Thingan-Nyinaung, 20 January
Eleventh splinter group members from the Klohtoobaw Karen Organization (KKO) of Saw Kyaw Thet surrendered to the Tatmadaw bringing along with them arms and ammunition to Myawady Township, Kayin State on 19 January.
The KKO splinter group members led by Saw Pho Ngal with the rank of captain brought 13 assorted weapons, 85 rounds of bullets, and twelve magazines. They were warmly welcomed by Col Naing Aung from local military station, KKO chief of staff Saw Mu Shae and concerned officials and provided with necessary assistance. They said they did not accept the stance of the splinter group and they wanted to live peacefully by focusing on developmental tasks in the region.
Because they had come to realize the true attitudes of the government and Tatmadaw towards the indigenous people, they there returned to the legal fold of the nation.—Min Thu (Hpa-an)
