Chairman of the State Administra­tion Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing de­livered a speech at the meet­ing to ensure water security in PyinOoLwin Township of Mandalay Region at the hall of National Landmarks Park yesterday morning.

 

In his speech, the Senior General stressed the need to adopt long-term plans for sus­taining water sources in order to supply drinking water and agricultural water for residents and farmlands as population of PyinOoLwin is on the rise year by year.

 

These plans must be in­tended to benefit not only cur­rent population but those in the future in PyinOoLwin.

 

The Director of the Man­dalay Region Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department, the Mandalay Re­gion Minister for Development Affairs and the Mandalay Re­gion Chief Minister reported on future water sources for Py­inOoLwin Township, supply of drinking water and agricultural water from dams, water sup­ply process, supply of water to people in PyinOoLwin, water sources and storage capacity, and future plans to extend sup­ply of water for dwellers.

 

After hearing the reports, the Senior General under­scored that it is necessary to conduct research on annual water storage of dams, adding watershed forests near dams must be conserved not to lose water sources.

 

He noted that officials need to manage sufficient supply of water to PyinOoLwin Township, and build dams with minimizing waste of water.

 

He instructed officials to conduct research and make field trips for work process to sufficiently supply water to Py­inOoLwin Township.

 

Also present at the meeting were Council member General Nyo Saw, the commander of Central Command, district and township-level departmental personnel and officials.

 

The Senior General and party viewed round National Kandawgyi Garden by car and left necessary guidance. —MNA/TTA
