Magway Regional Chief Minister Dr. Aung Moe Nyo attended a ceremony to hand over a government’s staff housing in Yenangyoung Township, Magway Region yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the Department of Urban and Housing Development under the Ministry of Construction has been implementing reasonably priced housing projects to improve living standard and socioeconomic status of the governmental employees and general public. An agreement was signed between the local government and tender winning companies to construct two six-storey staff housings in Magway and Gangaw in the fiscal year 2018-2019, he added.

 

The local government is planning to develop affordable housing projects for civil servants and residents and priority will be given to them, taking their difficulties into consideration. Next, the Regional Minister for Construction and Transportation U Tin Ngwe Oo explained matters relating to the housing. The staff housing was built by the tender winning firm Civil Tech Company by spending Ks. 992.69 million from the regional government’s funds in the financial year 2017-2018.

 

A committee led by the director of the Department of Urban and Housing Development U Thurein scrutinized the application forms submitted by the governmental employees and selected 23 people to reside at the house.—Ko Soe Gyi
