With a view to promoting friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand, sports events will be held at the township sports grounds in Mese, a border town in Kayah State on 17 February.
The fun activities will include football competition, basketball game, Chinelone contest, get-together dinner party as well cultural exchange programme. The athletes from Mese Town from Myanmar and Khunyuam Town from Thailand will demonstrate how to play basketball in an attempt to draw the interest of local people in the basketball sport. Myanmar and Thai traditional dances and songs will be performed during the cultural exchange programme. Thai athletes plan to go to a monastery in Pantein Village attend a collective donation ceremony.
The Chief Minister of Kayah State U L Phoung Sho presented Ks. 630,000 to buy sports gears for the athletes who will take part in the sports events representing Myanmar through Township Administrator U Myo Thant on 2 February.—Wut Yi (IPRD)
