British air accident investigators say the wreckage of missing aircraft carrying Argentine soccer player Emiliano Sala was found on the seabed in the English Channel. They say a body is visible inside.

The plane went missing on January 21 with Sala and its pilot on board over the English Channel after it flew from the French city of Nantes to the Welsh city of Cardiff.

Sala was on his way to make his debut in the Premier League team Cardiff City after being signed by the Welsh team.

Initially, British and French Authorities failed to find the missing plane and called off their searches after three days. But Britain's Air Accident Investigation Branch, AAIB, resumed the search after seat cushions were discovered.

Sala's family has raised funds for a private search which a shipwreck-hunting specialist.

The search team located the wreckage on Sunday. Authorities said the next day that they concluded it was the missing aircraft.

The AAIB says it will decide whether to salvage the wreckage after consulting with families of Sala and the pilot as well as police.
