A coordination meeting on in­spection and reconstruction processes of buildings damaged by the earthquake, with the par­ticipation of expert inspection teams, was held yesterday at the Ministry of Construction in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Union Minister U Myo Thant said the engineers should dis­cuss their experiences, events, processes and proper ways at the meeting to solve the impor­tant challenges for the engineer­ing sector.

 

The technical assessment support teams will be formed re­gionally for the issues related to the buildings and infrastructure damaged by the earthquake. These teams will utilize mod­ern equipment to inspect the conditions of structures to be repaired in normal conditions, heavy maintenance and the hazardous condition to be de­molished.

 

He continued that the quake-affected buildings would be repaired and the detailed structure inspection should be conducted after the systematic inspection per the procedures under the guidance of the Head of the State.

 

Moreover, the damages due to the earthquake will be exam­ined, recorded, and coordinated to be repaired and future plans will be explored for repair.

 

The inspection teams include the experts from My­anmar Engineering Council, Federation of Myanmar Engi­neering Societies, Myanmar Architect Council, Committee on Quality Control of High-Rise Building Construction Projects, Myanmar Earthquake Commit­tee, special task force commit­tee, and they will examine the quake-affected areas in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay and Sagaing together with the skilled engi­neers from the Ministry of Con­struction.

 

He added that the addition­al stipulations in MNBC-2025 to be released by the ministry soon will be supportive material in constructing the buildings.
