UNION Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe attended the groundbreak­ing ceremony for the construction of the Myanmar Diplomatic Academy, held yesterday at the compound of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.

Also present at the ceremony were U Ko Ko Kyaw and U Naing Min Kyaw, Deputy Ministers for Foreign Affairs, the permanent secretary, di­rectors-general, representatives of Mother Development Co Ltd, under­taking the construction of the Acade­my, and the respective officials from the Ministry.

The Union minister, deputy min­isters, and a representative of Mother Development Co Ltd laid stakes at the designated places and sprinkled scented water on them.

Upon completion, the Ministry will expand its training and educa­tional programmes to systematically develop foreign service personnel into highly qualified, next-generation dip­lomats, while also sharing knowledge on international and diplomatic affairs with interested individuals, including staff from various government organ­izations and ministries. — MNA
