THE Ministry of Home Affairs held ceremonies yesterday morning to release fish and pay respects to the elderly family members of staff at Mingala Lake, located next to the Pyinmana-Taungnyo Road in Zabuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and his wife, Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Aung Kyaw Kyaw and his wife, Permanent Secretary U Khine Tun Oo and his wife, directors-general, senior officials and their spouses, staff, and family members attended the ceremonies. A total of 3,000 fish, including golden carp fingerlings, were released into Mingala Lake.
Following this, a ceremony to honour the elderly was held at Areindama Hall of the Myanmar Police Force Headquarters. Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and his wife, along with officials, attended the event. As per Myanmar customs and traditions, New Year offerings were presented to 20 elders aged 80 and above who were able to attend the ceremony. On behalf of the elders, a grandmother offered prayers and conveyed good wishes.
A total of 86 elders aged 80 were presented with the above-received cash and personal items; however, only 20 were able to attend the ceremony. — MNA/MKKS
