MONGPHONE Sayadaw donat­ed K50 million for the renova­tion of the Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay, according to U Mya Win, Chairman of the Mahamu­ni Pagoda Board of Trustees.

 

Mongphone Sayadaw, who is currently on a donation tour to support earthquake-affected areas, arrived in Mandalay on the evening of 20 April and tem­porarily stayed at Mongphone Monastery near the Swaltaw Pagoda. On the morning of 21 April, he delivered a sermon to pilgrims at the Swaltaw Pago­da before visiting the eastern archway of the Mahamuni Pa­goda, where he donated K50 million to the Pagoda Board of Trustees for renovation works.

 

After spending the night in Pyin Oo Lwin, the donation convoy will return to Manda­lay and continue to Nay Pyi Taw. The convoy will stop overnight following donations there. Upon departure for Yan­gon, the convoy will pause for three days, during which Mong­phone Sayadaw will conduct loving-kindness sessions before returning to Taunggyi. — ASH/ MKKS
