Mongyal, 1 January

A stake-driving ceremony for construction of a new school building was held at a basic education high school in Mongyal Township, Northern Shan State yesterday morning.

The Buddhist monks recited “Paritta” as a gesture of the ceremony.  Afterwards, regional lawmaker U Sai Thiha Kyaw, Township Administrator U Than Lwin, the head of the township police force, the township education officer and departmental officials drove the stakes at designated places in the construction site. They then offered day meal to the members of the Sangha.

The two-storey school facility will be 140 ft. in length and 30 ft. in width and it will be built at a cost of more than Ks. 182 million in the fiscal year 2018-2019.—IPRD
