MYANMAR deported 10 Filipinos and 10 Rwandans, totalling 20 people, for their involvement in telecom fraud and destructive ac­tions via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II yesterday.

 

Myanmar authorities offi­cially handed the deportees the necessary legal documents to ensure their smooth repatriation.

 

Between 30 January and 22 April 2025, a total of 9,032 illegal immigrants were identified and detained in Myanmar. Of this number, 7,308 individuals have already been deported through Thailand to their respective coun­tries, while arrangements are be­ing made to deport the remaining 1,723 individuals. These individu­als are currently under detention while awaiting repatriation.

 

The government is strictly cracking down on online scams and online gambling by cooper­ating with international countries including neighbouring countries, especially through the Myan­mar-China-Thailand Trilateral Cooperation, and systematically transferring the foreigners in­volved in these operations. — MNA/KTZH
