Myanmar sees about US$ 600 mln of trade deficit from 2018 October to March this year

Myanmar’s export volume for March 2019 amounted to US$ 1591.47 million whereas Myanmar’s normal export volume saw US929.46 million while border trade reached US$ 662.01 million.

In the same period, Myanmar’s total import volume was valued at US$ 1375.64 million where Myanmar’s normal import volume was US$ 1108.55 million and border import volume stood US$ 267.09 million. Hence, Myanmar’s total trade volume for February was worth US$ 2967.11 million, leading to US$ 215.83 million of total trade deficit. 

Myanmar’s total export volume from October to March this year reached US$ 8206.08 million including US$ 4616.67 million of normal trade volume and US$ 3589.41 million of border trade volume. Meanwhile, Myanmar’s import volume totaled US$ 8796.32 million as normal import volume saw US$ 7357.69 million and border import volume hit US$ 1438.63 million. 

Therefore, Myanmar’s total trade volume from October to March this year amounted to US$ 17002.40 million, resulting in a trade deficit of US$ 590.24 million, according to the monthly export and import report released by the Central Statistical Organization.—MNA
