Ngape, 6 May

Ngape Township in Minbu District, Magway Region, has successfully cultivated 774 acres of summer paddy out of the 1,271 acres planned for this growing season. The paddy fields are reportedly thriving.

To support local farmers during the 2025 summer cropping season, the Mannchaung Dam began distributing irrigation water in early February. This support has reached farmland across the Letwe Myaung Maggyi and Letya Myaung Maggyi village tracts.

Among the cultivated crops, 774 acres include 26 acres of Yadanar Toe, 51 acres of Aung Naing Toe, 7 acres of Sakpoe Thar, 52 acres of Manau Thukha, and 638 acres of Sin Thukha. Sin Thukha, known for its high yield, is the most extensively grown variety.

While paddy is cultivated, Ngape Township prioritizes summer sesame during the summer cropping season. U Myint Thein, head of the Township Agriculture Department, along with his field staff, is conducting regular field visits to educate farmers on improved agricultural practices. These include modern planting techniques, the use of machinery, and strategies to maximize yield per acre.— Ma Yu (Ngape)
