Oil bowser fire claims 3 dead, 2 injured in Bhamo

Three people was killed and two others injured when a fire broke out near Sinkhan Village, Bhamo Township in Kachin State on 13 January after an oil bowser caught fire, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The fire broke out while diesel was being transferred from an oil tanker to an oil bowser that belongs to the private oil firm named “Denko Company” at about 9:45 a.m. on 13 January. The fire is believed to have started from a wire spark and unfortunately the oil bowser was completely destroyed by the fire. The fire had ceased 25 minutes later but two men died on the spot and three employees from the oil company were hurt in the incident.

Another injured man was pronounced dead on arrival at a public hospital in Bhamo. The injured people have also been sent to a government hospital in Bhamo. The employee of the oil company who was killed in the incident is being questioned over fire negligence by the local police station.—MOHA
