Old shells found in Meiktila

Meiktila 30 January

Old munitions were found in a field beside a railroad near Yonetawlay Village in Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region on 29 January.

Three old shells that cannot explode were discovered in a cement bag in a field belonging to a resident named U Thein Htwe from Thegon Village. The old weapon is 12 inch long and about 9 inch in circumference. A police squad from a nearby police station rushed to the scene after they received a phone call about the discovery of the old bombs by a village administrator.

The old ammunition was systematically handed over to security personnel from a local military engineering regiment.—Thein Myint Kyaw (Meiktila)
